Triangle Proportionality

Triangle Proportionality

How to solve triangle proportionality problems: example and its solution.

Find the value of x. The measures of the line segments formed by a line segment that is parallel to its opposite side and is dividing the non-opposite sides: 5, 3, 6, and x.

If the line segment inside the triangle
is parallel to its opposite side,

then the inner line segment
divides the adjacent sides proportionally.

So 5 / 3 = 6 / x.
