Cumulative Frequency Histogram

Cumulative Frequency Histogram

How to draw a cumulative frequency histogram from the given data: example and its solution.

Example

The following table shows test scores for 20 students: 90-99 (2), 80-89 (6), 70-79 (7), 60-69 (3), 50-59 (2). Draw a cumulative frequency histogram based on the data.

Make a 'Cumulative Frequency' column
next to the 'Frequency' column.

Start from the bottom frequency: 2.

Write the values as
(previous value) + (the next frequency).
2 + 3 = 5
5 + 7 = 12
12 + 6 = 18
18 + 2 = 20

Draw the histogram form.
Vertical axis: Cumulative Frequency (0 ~ 20)
Horizontal axis: Test Scores (50-59 ~ 90-99)

Draw the vertical bars
that show each interval's cumulative frequency.
