# Area of a Parallelogram

How to find the area of a parallelogram: formula, proof, examples, and their solutions.

## Formula

*A* = *bh**A*: area of a parallelogram*b*: base*h*: height

## Proof

By a diagonal,

a parallelogram is divided into two triangles.

And the area of each triangle is (1/2)*bh*.

So the area of the parallelogram is

2 × (1/2)*bh* = *bh*.

## Example 1

*b* = 9, *h* = 5*A* = 9⋅5

## Example 2

*b* = 11, *h* = 8*A* = 11⋅8
